PBS to SAPP: Stop picking on us
Kota Kinabalu: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Wednesday questioned the motive behind Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) continuing to "pick bones" with its Barisan Nasional (BN) counterpart.
PBS Chief Information Officer, Johnny Mositun, said SAPP President Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee should not have blamed the BN for voters in Permatang Pauh having to go for another round of election.
"He should blame PKR President Wan Azizah because she chose to resign after winning the seat just so her husband, Anwar Ibrahim, can fulfil his dream of making a political comeback," he said in a statement, Wednesday.
Responding to the Yong's statement on Wednesday, he said Wan Azizah should be blamed for incurring cost to the Election Commission and the Government.
Mositun was puzzled why Yong singled out PBS as among the component parties "lining up to impress Federal leaders".
He refuted Yong's claim that BN leaders going to Permatang Pauh for campaigning were actually going for joy trips.
"It is our responsibility as a BN component to help one another based on the coalition's solidarity and our sincerity here should not be questioned," he said.
Mositun also slammed PKR Vice President Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan for "trying to bluff the people in Semenanjung" that 13 MPs from Sabah would be switching sides if Anwar wins.
"For him to make such statement in the peninsula at this point of time shows he is playing 'political lies' just to garner support from the Permatang Pauh voters," he said.
He hoped the voters in Permatang Pauh would make the right choice come Aug 26 because "one thing PBS can attest to is that only BN can help the people lift their living standard and economy".
