State Secretary Datuk Sukarti Wakiman said enforcement officers moved on to the next phase of the massive crackdown in Tenom on Tuesday morning.
In a statement here, he said after the third phase conducted in Keningau, Tambunan and Nabawan that ended last Saturday, the authorities had screened 4,000 people, where 2,000 were held for further screening.
"Overall, 15,686 people were screened and 697 people, comprising 465 Filipinos, 232 Indonesians, a Bruneian and a Pakistani," he said, adding 56 detainees were released after families and employers produced identification papers to the authorities.
